About Me

Ian Jett received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Oklahoma under instruction of Professor Hal Grossman, his master’s degree and performer’s certificate from Missouri State University under Dr. David Hays and is currently ABD for his Doctorate in Musical Arts at the University of Oregon under Professor Hal Grossman.

 Ian has won many competitions throughout Oklahoma and Missouri which awarded him the honor of soloing with several orchestras, including the University of Oklahoma Symphony, Missouri State University Symphony Orchestra, and University of Oregon Symphony, performing concertos by Brahms, Vieuxtemps, and Nan Schwarz, the last of which was a live performance attended by the composer.

Ian has performed as section violin and frequent sub in several orchestras, including the Springfield Symphony, Symphony of Northwest Arkansas, Eugene Concert Orchestra, Eugene Symphony, Rogue Valley Symphony, Delaware Symphony, and recently he won the Principal Second Violin position with the Newport Symphony in Newport, Oregon.

In recent years, Ian has performed recitals in Manhattan, Brooklyn, New Jersey, and Delaware, collaborating with his long-time friend and colleague, pianist Shun-Yeen Hoi. Ian currently teaches as core Suzuki violin faculty and serves as the Suzuki Academy Coordinator at the Music School of Delaware in Wilmington, DE.
